Maaria Mahmood is a Junior Program Associate on the Lapis Graduate scheme cohort 2017.
Prior to joining Lapis, Maaria worked extensively in the humanitarian sector, working with small to medium NGO’s and grassroots organizations such as Hand in Hand for Syria, and the Afghanistan and Central Asia Association, acting as a strategic communications and political engagement intern. Maaria spent the last year working on the ground providing assistance to refugees travelling through Greece and Macedonia.
Maaria holds a master’s degree in Development studies from the London School of Economics, where she focused on the human security of Palestinian refugees under UNRWA, and the rise of informal markets in camps. She completed her undergraduate degree from the School of Oriental and African studies, University of London with an LLB in Law. She is fluent in English, with an intermediate level in Urdu and Punjabi.
